I draw energy from working with customers. From the smallest trying to scale to largest grappling with complexity – the opportunity to help fuels me.
I didn’t realize until recently just how depleted my battery had become. Nearly a decade at Salesforce working with amazingly talented people had drained me. I 100% cherish the lessons I learned and skills I developed there. But over time, for a variety reasons, I was tapped out… and it took leaving to realize that.
Well, actually, it took creating Weave Identity and serving an entirely different set of customers to realize that. In seemingly a single act, I had the opportunity to look across the entire IAM market. I got to meet all sorts of technology providers, in different points in their story. And I got to help so many in so many different ways. In doing so, I could actually feel my battery recharging - I was invigorated, engaged, and, damn, it felt good.
There was another side effect of my work through Weave, it served as an enormous “try before you buy” process. I got to see what was working within companies, what needed help, and where the opportunities lay; they got to see how I worked, how I coached, and how I delivered.
Now having recharged and worked closely with amazing customers, I am thrilled to announce that I am joining SGNL.ai as VP of Product Strategy! I will be helping with where we take this amazing platform, as well as how we talk about our mission to prospects and market influencers alike. I am joining SGNL, not because my work at Weave was unfulfilling, but because the opportunity is just too great to pass up. I have been blown away by the entire team. I have known Scott and Erik for a long time, going well back into my Salesforce days, and I continue to amazed by their character, smarts, and the way they approach building companies. It’s truly an honor to join the team.
While I am dialing down my work at Weave, I am still stoked to continue advise AKA Identity, Beyond Identity, and TrustFour. They each have so much to offer the IAM market and their customers; I cannot wait to watch them grown and offer advice to them along the way!
Of course, I’ll continue to play an active role in the larger world of digital identity. I am extremely excited to help where I can with the Digital Identity Advancement Foundation, The Identity Salon, IDPro, the OpenID Foundation, and IdentiBeer. I’ll still be very much trying cause as much trouble as I can with off-the-wall ideas such as the modern IAM architecture and the Open IAM Data Schema. Lastly, I will still very much be in the mix at conferences such as Gartner IAM, KuppingerCole’s European Identity Conference, Authenticate, and likely many more - so I will see you out on the road!
